The Journey of a Lifetime

 

June 12–27, 2027 • 16 Days / 15 Nights

 

Lima → Pacific Coast → Desert Oasis → Andes → Sacred Valley → Machu Picchu → Cusco → Inti Raymi

 

We're going to cross Peru.

We'll watch the landscape change from Pacific coastline to desert, from desert to high Andes, through mountain valleys and finally into the heart of the Inca world.

 

🌊 DAYS 1–3 | LIMA • PARACAS • HUACACHINA • NASCA

Day 1 — Lima

Arrive in Lima and settle in. Our adventure begins.

Day 2 — Lima → Paracas 🚐

Head south along the Pacific coast. Explore the Paracas National Reserve, with its dramatic desert-meets-ocean scenery.

Overnight: Paracas

Day 3 — Ballestas Islands → Huacachina → Nasca 🚐

Morning boat trip to the Ballestas Islands, then continue to Ica and the Huacachina desert oasis.

Sand dunes, palm trees, desert scenery, then onward toward Nasca.

Overnight: Nasca

 

⛰️ DAYS 4–8 | THE ANDES ROAD TRIP

Day 4 — Nasca → Puquio 🚐

Leave the coastal desert behind and climb into the Andes.

The scenery changes dramatically as we gain altitude.

Overnight: Puquio

Day 5 — Puquio → Chalhuanca 🚐

Mountain roads, high-altitude landscapes, villages and plenty of opportunities to stop, stretch our legs and take it all in.

Overnight: Chalhuanca

Day 6 — Chalhuanca → Abancay 🚐

A shorter driving day, giving us time to experience the countryside rather than simply pass through it.

Overnight: Abancay

Day 7 — Abancay | Free Day

A day to breathe.

Choose an optional adventure, explore the area, hike, kayak or simply enjoy the town and mountains.

Overnight: Abancay

Day 8 — Abancay → Sacred Valley 🚐

Our longest overland day, but with the journey itself as part of the experience.

Mountain scenery, villages and changing landscapes lead us into the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Overnight: Sacred Valley

 

🏛️ DAYS 9–11 | INTO THE INCA WORLD

Day 9 — Sacred Valley

Explore Pisac Market and archaeological site, then continue to Ollantaytambo.

Ancient stonework, living Andean culture and one of the most spectacular valleys in Peru.

Overnight: Sacred Valley

Day 10 — The Short Inca Trail → Machu Picchu 🥾🚂

This is the adventure.

Train to KM104, then hike approximately 6.2 miles through the mountains.

We'll pass Wiñay Wayna, follow the ancient Inca trail and enter through the Sun Gate.

Then we'll see it:

Machu Picchu.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 11 — Machu Picchu → Cusco

A full guided visit to Machu Picchu.

Then train back through the Sacred Valley and continue to Cusco.

🏛️ DAYS 12–15 | CUSCO • INTI RAYMI • TIME TO BREATHE

Day 12 — Cusco | Free Day

No schedule.

Explore, shop, relax, find a great restaurant or simply wander the streets of this incredible city.

Day 13 — INTI RAYMI ☀️

The big celebration.

Experience Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun, including the spectacular ceremony at Sacsayhuamán.

One of the great cultural experiences of the entire journey.

Day 14 — Cusco | Free Day

One more day to enjoy Cusco your way.

Day 15 — Cusco → Lima ✈️

Fly back to Lima.

Free afternoon in Miraflores for one last taste of Peru.

Overnight: Lima

 

✈️ DAY 16 | HOME

Time to head home.

But we'll leave Peru having experienced far more than one famous destination.

We crossed a country.

We walked an Inca trail.

We stood at Machu Picchu.

We celebrated Inti Raymi.

And we watched Peru unfold around us.
